Hey,
As many of us are aware, FabFilter recently released Pro-Q 4, which introduces dynamic spectral shaping to their dynamic EQ feature. I’ve long thought that spectral shaping is exactly the kind of feature Kirchhoff or really any EQ in this genre could benefit from.
Currently, having to rely on external utilities like Spec Craft for tasks that only require simple spectral shaping feels unnecessary. This workflow would be much faster if such functionality were integrated directly within Kirchhoff.
Adding spectral shaping to Kirchhoff wouldn’t make tools like Spec Craft irrelevant, as they serve a broader purpose. However, for taming small, specific frequency areas especially high-frequency ringing resonances, switching to a whole other plugin window for such tasks feels overkill.
Similarly, using Kirchhoff’s current dynamic bands often requires manual adjustments that can be time consuming and aren’t always as effective for these particular issues. Spectral shaping, by comparison excels at this.
Incorporating this feature would make Kirchhoff more versatile and efficient for users addressing these type of challenges.
Thanks
Best regards,
Troels
