Am I doing something wrong or is there no such functionality to right click a knob in the GUI in order to give automation options? I'm using FL-Studio 12 and really have a hard time working out what CC does what. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hell, I'd like to suggest variable tempos for tremolo picking. Maybe I missed the option in the manual but for my taste tremolo picking is extremely fast right now.
