Heavier7Strings v1.7.0 - GUI Scale Setting Does Not Change Window Size

Postby Razuu » Mon Mar 25, 2024 3:08 pm

I changed the setting to a size larger than 100% (e.g. 150%), restarted the DAW host application and loaded the plugin, but while the GUI rendering is scaled, the window size does not change.

OS
- Windows

H7S Version
v1.5.6 (VST2): Worked
v1.7.0 (VST3): Not worked

DAW
- Studio One 6.5.2.97444
- Blue Cat's PatchWork 2.6.7 (x64)

I will continue using the VST2 version without upgrading.

Thank you for reporting the issue with Heavier7Strings.
We are aware of the scaling issue with version 1.7.0 in some DAWs including Reaper and Studio One.

Unfortunately, we have determined that we cannot promptly fix this issue at the moment.
The framework used in H7S when it was developed does not support the current demand for scaling in VST3 plugins.
To thoroughly resolve this issue, we would need to rebuild Heavier7Strings from scratch, which would require a substantial amount of time.
Over the past few years, we have received numerous compatibility requests for Heavier7Strings. Considering these circumstances, we have decided to release this update despite the known scaling issue.

We have verified that the scaling issue does not occur when using the VST2 plugin.
The addition of VST3 support was intended to address the fact that the latest version of Cubase has discontinued VST2 support.
Since there are no functional differences between the VST3 and VST2 plugins, we recommend using the VST2 plugin for DAWs that support it, such as Studio One.
*Note: When using the H7S VST3 plugin in Cubase, the adjusted window size will be saved and applied correctly after restarting.
